The New England Wilderness Medicine Conference is an educational event hosted by UMass Chan Medical School students in collaboration with residents and attending physicians from across the United States. The conference focuses on providing hands-on teaching and training in wilderness medicine through lectures and simulation sessions.

The conference is designed for medical students, residents, attending physicians, EMTs, Paramedics, and other healthcare professionals or learners interested in wilderness medicine. Whether you're a seasoned practitioner or new to the field, you'll find valuable insights and practical training to enhance your skills.
3. Where and when is the conference held? The conference will be held at the UMass Chan Medical School Faculty Conference Room in Worcester, MA. It is on Saturday, October 19th, from 8:00 AM - 4:30 pm. Detailed location information and directions will be provided upon registration.
4. How do I register for the conference? You can register for the conference by visiting our registration page on the top right side of the website. Early registration is recommended as spaces are limited.
5. What topics will be covered during the conference? The conference will cover a wide range of topics related to wilderness medicine, including but not limited to:
Wilderness first aid
Remote trauma care
Environmental emergencies (e.g., hypothermia, heat stroke)
Wilderness survival skills
Improvised medical techniques
Search and rescue operations
6. What should I bring to the conference? Participants should bring comfortable clothing suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities, including sturdy footwear for outdoor simulations. A notebook, pen, and any personal medical supplies you may need are also recommended.
7. Are meals provided during the conference? Yes, breakfast and lunch will be provided for all participants. If you have any dietary restrictions or special requirements, please let us know during the registration process.
8. Is there a cost to attend the conference? Yes, there is a registration fee to cover the costs of the conference, including materials, meals, and facilities. The price is $25 for students and $50 for all other medical professionals.
9. Will I receive continuing education credits (CME)? Yes! If you are an EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic, you will receive CME credits for attending the conference.
